Makin' My Way Downtown

Hi, my name's Zaf. What's up? My memory only lasts 10 seconds. I love bacon and eggs. Oh, did I mention my name's Zaf? What's up? My memory only lasts 10 seconds. I love bacon and eggs.

My New Job.

And so, I quit my old job.

Say hello to new life.

The previous job that I had was a work from home job, so I had lots of time to spare. Before, I could be at my work station in less than 5mins, but now, I have to wake up at 5am so that I could prepare my coffee, take a shower in a jiffy, dress up and leave at exactly 6am. Travel time from South to Makati takes about 3 hours max, traffic included.

So what does my job entail? Since I was categorized as a Level A Writer/Editor, my article quota is higher than the Level B’s. I have to submit 10 whole pages a day, single spaced, Times New Roman, 12pt font. Of course, it would be impossible for someone to reach this quota without having to render overtime, so this means, I’ll be spending more than 12hours in the office just so I could submit the required 10pages of brain fart. And since my travel time is 3hours, I have conditioned myself already that there will be times that I would come home at around 12midnight. Ah, stress and pressure.

But don’t get me wrong—I love stress and pressure. I don’t like it if I am idle, or doing no-brainer stuff. I feel useless. So I promised myself that I will embrace this job with all my heart. =) I took home some work, the remaining 4 pages for my daily quota last Friday.

I only have one problem though: since I got so used to working at home, I had a hard time writing when I was in the office. I was able to finish 6pages in 5hours, not bad yes, but if we are to compute my efficiency and rate of output, 6pages in 5hours won’t make me reach my daily quota. Plus, we are using desktops in the office, so I am having a hard time adjusting, since I’ve been using a laptop for the past 3years (sometimes, if I press backspace on the desktop keyboard, I accidentally press the insert key… and then things start to fuck up if I change a phrase mid-sentence).

And then of course, since I now work from Mondays to Fridays, 9am - 6pm, there will be instances that I will have to give way to my lunch breaks in order for me to pay my monthly dues. I told you, I need a wife to help me. Pronto! =))
